About

2021 marks the 5th anniversary of the death of our beloved daughter, sister, mother and friend, Liza Beth Oppenheim. We have been searching for a meaningful way to honor Liza’s legacy, and to that end we are establishing a scholarship fund in the Simmons University Graduate School of Education to offer financial help to a student who aspires to make his/her mark in the field of teaching.

Liza graduated from Simmons with a Master’s in Teaching in 2008 and went on to fulfill her dream of teaching and working with students who needed  extra attention and care - to help them achieve their goals.  She devoted herself to working with students – in high school and college - up until the year she passed away.

Liza touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her loving and caring nature, her joy of life, her humor, her passion for social justice, her commitment to racial and gender equality, and her compassion for anyone who needed a helping hand.

We hope that you will consider supporting our effort to establish this $20,000 scholarship in Liza’s name: the Liza Beth Oppenheim MAT '08 Scholarship Fund.

  With gratitude,

Judy Oppenheim
